- Future Cop: LAPD works best with a video board that supports 3D acceleration. 3Dfx-based boards are supported using Glide and ATI-based boards (with Rage Pro or newer chipsets) are supported using QuickDraw 3D RAVE. If you have an ATI Rage Pro board, it must have at least 4MB of VRAM in order for Future Cop to support RAVE 3D acceleration.
- Future Cop requires a video card that supports Thousands of colors at 640x480 (or higher).
- Future Cop runs best on a 603e (or better) processor at 180mhz (or higher).
- If the game runs slowly on your system, try decreasing the resolution in the Preferences dialog box.
- Press the Escape key to get back to the front end while you are playing.
- Future Cop runs best with gamepad-type controllers or a keyboard, but analog joysticks and the mouse are supported in case you want to try using them. Playing split-screen with just one keyboard is a problem because most keyboards can only handle 2 or 3 keys being pressed at once (and usually when there are two people playing on a keyboard at the same time they need more than 2-3 keys to be pressed at any given moment). It is best to use a gamepad controller for at least one of the players in a two player game, if you have one.
- Network Play on Mac has some limitations: you can't play against Windows users, it only works when you have a GREAT connection (i.e. you are on a LAN), there is no direct modem-to-modem play (until Apple support modems in NetSprocket), and there is a very long delay when you try to Join a game (using TCP/IP) at a bad address (or the host hasn't started hosting yet) because of a problem with the current version of NetSprocket.
- Press the Help button for a slide show that tells you what to do (there are two slide shows, one for Crime War and one for Precinct Assault). Don't forget that you can transform from a Walker to a Hovercraft by hitting the Action and Change Target keys at the same time!
Troubleshooting:
Some people have reported problems with immediate crashes on older systems. If you are having this problem, try removing all files beginning with "Input Sprocket" from the Extensions folder (which is in your System Folder) EXCEPT for the following three files:
InputSprocket Keyboard
InputSprocket Mouse
InputSprocketLib
Others have reported problems running Future Cop with virtual memory On. You might want to try turning it Off (in the Memory Control Panel) if you are having problems running Future Cop.
Also, some people have experiences problems with various video modes that Future Cop switches to when the "Fill the Screen" option (in the Preferences) is On. Try turning it Off if you are having video problems when running Future Cop.
